This is a eulogy for the Harris Avenue Café. One of the best little places in the Fairhaven District of Bellingham. Around midnight on December 16, 2023, the building housing the Café burned to the ground. The brick front wall is unstable and probably cannot be saved. We've lost the oldest building in Fairhaven at 134 years, and a focal point of the morning for many locals.

It's been several years since I've eaten here. Back then, I was not a fan. Yesterday I thought it was time to give it another try. The interior is the same as it was, but the menu has totally changed; it has many interesting new offerings. The service was very prompt and our server was extremely upbeat, cheerful and helpful. The food was prepared well and was tasty. The one item that could use some serious work was the potatoes. They were grossly overcooked, soggy and "tired " (not prepared fresh). I would skip them next time. In all, it was a pleasing, enjoyable breakfast. I will be back.

I do not give out 5 stars easily, but this place has completely earned it. I have been looking for a long time for a great restaurant that absolutely does a fantastic job with breakfast, I found it. Everything was scratch, made and cooked just right. Service was just right, and very kind, eclectic downtown Bellingham, setting as well. Highly recommend.!!

I decided to stop in Fairhaven to take a walk and stretch my legs, but especially grab some breakfast for my early start of the day. I am glad I stopped in today at Harris. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, the outdoor seating offers really beautiful views of trees and of the nostalgic buildings across the street. The place wasn't too crowded on a Thursday morning, and it smelled amazing walking in. I ordered the Texas taters in a half size as well as one of the cornmeal pancakes. I seriously could not finish it all, but I really wanted to, the cornmeal pancake was something I have never had before, and never thought that would taste incredible. You must try this! The Texas taters were amazing as well, I loved the veggies and the mixture of meat with potatoes and a little bit of sour cream on top. It all went really well together. Sierra was an amazing server, she was attentive and polite and sweet and if I'm ever back, I would hope that she'd serve me again.

Solid breakfast choice!! So far everything on the menu is great. The window seats in the front are fun for a couple.

I have travelled the world and this is the first place that offers pistachio matcha chai latte and onion soup as a side to the Vegi burger! 6 flavors for mimosas too.

This place had the cutest venue and the coffee was exquisitely decorated also. They even added some orange peel to my coffee which I love and totally makes the experience for me lol. Our server was nice and quick. The food was bomb. Would come back in a heart beat :)

I can not gate keep this place, even though I really want to. I cant stop thinking about what I'm gonna order next time. We ordered the Topeka scramble, Texas taters, and French toast. Everything single item was so good. Topeka scramble - was simple and flavourful. On top with thier home made jam, it was so good. French toast is made with a baguette, so it's a different texture for sure. But still has that deep nutty taste that I like. THE SHOW STOPPER THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE. The Texas taters!!! It comes with their home made chorizo, and it does not disappoint. This dish is for them spicy lovers. I was so full eating it, but I couldn't stop. The waitresses here were always on their game and made sure we were happy with everything. Fast and friendly too. Cute and tiny, so come early !! I 100% support this mom and pop shop. I am coming back soon.

Thanks Yelpers for the brunch recommendation Huevos Laredos and tea for me, El Diablo Scramble and o.j. for him. Plus a pumpkin cookie for the road. Delish! And great service, too... which is always important for mornings

It said they weren't open but to our delight they were! We're late breakfast eaters, closer to noon than morning hours. Sometimes finding a breakfast spot is hard so when we do, we rejoice! Harris Ave is the perfect spot! We were greeted right away by a super friendly gal that seemed genuinely happy to see us, as she was with every customer! She was quick with our drinks, orders, refills and special requests. The food was hot and absolutely delicious! The BBQ sauce they use is spicy and packed with flavor, added to the chew of the ham and the sweetness of the tomatoes, the Chubby Checker hit the spot! Grab a side of bacon too, you won't be sorry! I highly recommend Harris Ave Cafe and we'll surely return when we're in the area!
